Commonly Asked Questions about Chiropractic Treatment

Have you ever wondered if chiropractic treatment could be right for you?  Paradox Chiropractic has put together some answers to commonly asked patient questions to help you determine when (and how often!) you should think about seeing a chiropractor.

Q: What is Chiropractic Treatment? A: Chiropractic treatment generally addresses problems and dysfunctions that originate in the nervous system and musculoskeletal system.  Chiropractors typically treat patients who experience back pain, headaches and migraines, joint pain in the legs and arms, and neck pain.  Spinal manipulations, or chiropractic adjustments, are one of the most common types of chiropractic treatment and are performed in order to restore joint mobility to joints that have become injured or otherwise affected.

Q: When is Chiropractic Treatment Appropriate? A: Before recommending chiropractic treatment, your chiropractor or doctor should take your full medical history into account in order to get a thorough view of your health and the sources of your pain.  Chiropractors typically assess patients by giving them in-person exams, performing diagnostic imaging, or running laboratory tests to determine whether or not chiropractic care is appropriate.

Q: How Often Should I See a Chiropractor? A: Though some chiropractors try to recommend excessive treatments—sometimes suggesting patients need three visits per week for months on end—you really shouldn’t have to see a chiropractor multiple times a week. To relieve an acute injury, we may recommend two appointments per week.  However, this schedule should decrease in frequency quickly as your condition begins to improve.  Your body’s tissues require time to heal after they are injured and after chiropractic treatment, so it’s important to give yourself plenty of time to heal without overdoing the appointments.

Q: What if Chiropractic Treatment Doesn’t Help? A: If your body doesn’t respond well to treatment after your first three visits to Paradox Chiropractic, we will refer you to receive diagnostic testing or suggest that you begin another method of healthcare treatment alongside your chiropractic care.  We do this because we want our patients to improve as quickly as possible so that you may begin enjoying your life with optimal health and physical performance.  Dr. D. is happy to continue working with you to find the best solution and most ideal results for your particular symptoms and situation.
